   As good a deal as this is. As bad as I want a retro. I would pass because it’s 18.5 not the 20 as God intended it to be. 8+1 in my 590.

   I just picked one of these up for a similar price. If you’re holding out for an A1 I’d say get this…you might be pleasantly surprised. Besides the sights, the biggest difference is the weight. The thinner-walled barrel makes this seem like a featherweight compared to the A1. I was changing out the slings on three 590s, two -A1’s and this one, and when I picked this one up after hefting the two big girls it was like a breath of fresh air. After putting about a box of ammo through it, I can say that the difference in recoil is insignificant but the difference in weight is amazing.

   Edit: my Retro has the 20″ barrel and lug.

   Honestly I would just find a worn Winchester 1897, Model 12, or an Ithaca 37 field gun and take a hacksaw to it, and slap on a heat shield from Sarco. Cheaper and more authentic.
