I recently received a refurbished one. The build quality is great and it has NV settings for those of you who have NODs

Quick 30 second comparison to an EXPS3… Optic is actually slightly lighter than the EXPS3 despite its larger appearance. Both are a lower 1/3 cowitness and the reticle is slightly less clear/defined on the UH-1 II with some noticeable fuzziness around the edges. You can also tell that the refresh rate of the diode seems to be lower than the EXPS3. I can’t describe why it feels this way but it’s very similar to the effect you’d see going from a 120hz monitor to something around 90hz (not saying those are the actual refresh rates of these optics). Glass is clear but slightly blue and I actually prefer the reticle on the UH-1 to the EXPS3, specifically the bottom triangle for your CQC hold. Idk why but subjectively I think the UH-1 optics look hella sexy on a patrol rifle. People will complain about the buttons being on the back if they’re running a magnifier, but it hasn’t bothered me too much. Lastly the finish is closer to that of the coating on a standard AR receiver vs the EXPS which has a slightly “glossier” finish that’s slicker.

All in all, I really like this optic despite some of the above shortcomings.

Edit: My source is 2,000 rounds switching back and forth between both on a Sig MCX virtus Patrol

Second Edit: I have not experienced the battery drain issues that others have but I don’t doubt that their experiences are valid.

I just RMAed my gen2 UH1 to Vortex, due to the known battery drain issue, it just got delivered at their facility earlier today.

But I might pick up another due to how quick and easy the RMA process was. I prefer this over my EOtech EXPS3, I like the reticle and the wider glass.

Would not recommend for home defense use due to potential battery drain issues.

Nothing worse than picking up a home defense gun and find out the battery is dead from being drained when the optic is off.

I definitely need the tactical mailbox for my next optic, very good looking sight

Better get box of CR123 while at it….this thing suck battery quick. Like 30-40 min. per CR123.
